MUAR MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and singer and actress Bella Astillah were engaged on 28 Mar 26, putting an end to months of speculation over their relationship.
Syed Saddiq revealed in a social media post that same day that his marriage proposal had been accepted. He described it as the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
Their relationship started as a simple collaboration with good chemistry and developed into a deeper and more meaningful connection. Together, the couple successfully raised over RM6 million for the public, particularly residents in Muar. Syed Saddiq described their journey as guided by divine providence – “This is part of God’s perfect plan. God is the best of planners. Indeed!
Thousands of Malaysians stayed home on Saturday to watch the Bella and Syed Saddiq engagement live on Astro. What struck most Malaysians was the hantaran from Syed Saddiq and his genuine love for Bella and her two children, Ara and Ayden. Bella was previously married to singer Aliff Aziz.
Raising the bar
Instead of material things, Syed Saddiq’s hantaran came in the form of future-focused gifts. These include contributions to Bella’s Tabung Haji account, and education saving schemes for Bella’s two children. Syed Saddiq had certainly raised the bar!
In his speech, Syed Saddiq addressed online chatter questioning whether Bella is well-suited for him, given that she was formerly married. Syed Saddiq said “I want to make it very clear. I love Bella, not in spite of, but because of her two children as well”. His love for Bella’s children and vice versa are evident and Syed Saddiq made it clear that his commitment is rooted in love and acceptance.
